2nd Amendment Rights Plan March On Washington With Loaded Rifles To ‘Put The Government On Notice’

Almost 900 people are RSVPed for a July 4th march on Washington, D.C. where protesters plan to carry loaded rifles. In D.C., openly carrying guns is against the law. But the organizer of the event, libertarian radio host Adam Kokesh, says the march is an act of “civil disobedience” that attempts to prove gun advocates’ point in the “SUBTLEST way possible.”
The event’s Facebook invitation describes the march as a nonviolent demonstration, “unless the government chooses to make it violent”:
https://www.facebook.com/events/252728144871259/?ref=3
This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are marching to mark the high water mark of government & to turn the tide. This will be a non-violent event, unless the government chooses to make it violent. Should we meet physical resistance, we will peacefully turn back, having shown that free people are not welcome in Washington, & returning with the resolve that the politicians, bureaucrats, & enforcers of the federal government will not be welcome in the land of the free.
There’s a remote chance that there will be violence as there has been from government before, and I think it should be clear that if anyone involved in this event is approached respectfully by agents of the state, they will submit to arrest without resisting. We are truly saying in the SUBTLEST way possible that we would rather die on our feet than live on our knees.
Yes indeed, Adam Kokesh is officially going the whole hog – as he forces the 2nd Amendment rights issue by doing what few talk show hosts and advocates are prepared to – taking the fight directly to the White House.
Kokesh is proposing a march on Washington DC and has invited liberty overs to join him – with load weapons and in an open carry fashion. It’s almost certain that this campaign will attract all sides of the mainstream media spectrum – and expect the likes of CNN and White House network channel MSNBC to publicly hang him (in media terms) for even suggesting such a challenge to the US federal government.
Salon.com has already begun the ritual character assassination on Kokesh (see story below) in an attempt to discredit him, but in usual MSM hit-piece fashion, author ALEX SEITZ-WALD  is unable to actually challenge Kokesh on the Constitutional merrits of what’s being proposed on July 4th.
CNN’s own expert on American affairs, British host Piers Morgan, is rumoured to have already inquired about getting Kokesh on his the big stage. If Kokesh does appear on CNN, if will likely wash away the Alex Jones gun debate/debacle which aired a few months earlier, unless of course, Alex himself decides to crash Adam’s patriot party – but it’s highly doubtful that Jones would leave the relative calm and safety of the Austin city limits and join in on a fully locked and loaded march on Washington.
Adam vs the Man will soon become ‘Adam vs the White House’. We applaud his super-sized balls on this one…

A march on Washington with loaded rifles

On the morning of July 4, 2013, Independence Day, we will muster at the National Cemetery & at noon we will step off to march across the Memorial Bridge, down Independence Avenue, around the Capitol, the Supreme Court, & the White House, then peacefully return to Virginia across the Memorial Bridge. This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are truly saying in the SUBTLEST way possible that we would rather die on our feet than live on our knees.

You are welcome to attend unarmed as a supporter, or armed with a recording device. We especially invite law enforcement officers to stand with us armed however they feel is appropriate.

If this page gets to 10,000 attendees by June 1st, & we have the critical mass necessary to pull this off, (1,000 actual attendees) we will march. Please spread the word, share this event, & invite all your friends.

If law enforcement policy for the public space in front of the National Cemetery prevents open carry there, we will rally at the next closest area where we can legally open carry.

UPDATE 130506 Now that it's undeniable that this is going to happen, allow me to make clear how. There will be coordination with DC law enforcement prior to the event. I will recommend that they do the best they can to honor their oaths and escort us on our route. Failing to provide that commitment to safety, we will either be informed that we will only be allowed up to a certain point where we would be arrested. If this is the case, we will approach that point as a group and if necessary, I will procede to volunteer myself to determine what their actual course of action with someone crossing the line will be at which point fellow marchers will have the choice of joining me one at a time in a peaceful, orderly manner, or turning back to the National Cemetery.

Thanks to everyone for the vibrant conversation, but we have decided to make the wall of this event page specifically just for announcements and important info for the event. Please feel free to comment, and continue the conversation as you like at: http://forums.adamvstheman.com/viewforum.php?f=13

Libertarian activist and radio host Adam Kokesh is hoping to get 1,000 people to march on Washington on July 4 — armed with loaded rifles.
The plan, launched with a Facebook group today, is to gather on the Virginia side of the Potomac, where gun laws are lax, and then march across the bridge with loaded rifles slung over their shoulders into the District, where openly carrying weapons is generally prohibited.

“This will be a non-violent event,” the Facebook group warns, “unless the government chooses to make it violent.” Already, over 200 people have said they’ll attend the march. Here’s the message:
On the morning of July 4, 2013, Independence Day, we will muster at the National Cemetery & at noon we will step off to march across the Memorial Bridge, down Independence Avenue, around the Capitol, the Supreme Court, & the White House, then peacefully return to Virginia across the Memorial Bridge. Kokesh is a former Marine who was discharged in 2007 after violating the military’s code against engaging in political activity while in uniform. Kokesh was highly active in the antiwar movement after serving in Iraq, participating in numerous protests and getting arrested on occasion.

He started an anti-government radio show as the Tea Party picked up steam and was eventually picked up by RT, the news channel funded by the Russian government that is often critical of U.S. policy, where he promoted both the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street in a worldview that some sociologists describe as “fusion paranoia,” a visceral anti-governmentalism that isn’t limited to typical left-right divides.

He ran into trouble when he endorsed Ron Paul in the 2012 election, which led to an FEC complaint and his termination from RT, though employees have told me privately that there were other, darker issues.

Since then, he’s taken his show “Adam vs. The Man” to the Internet, and seems to have become increasingly radicalized. “It’s time to abolish the US federal government,” he tweeted yesterday. Today he tweeted this:
When the government comes to take your guns, you can shoot government agents, or submit to slavery.
— Adam Kokesh (@adamkokesh) May 3, 2013
Whether Kokesh actually goes through with his plan remains to be seen — he says he won’t do it unless 1,000 join him — but the protest may strike a chord with gun fanatics, who stage “open carry” protests across the country to fight gun control laws. There was one in Washington in 2010, but those rallying inside District lines did not actually carry weapons.

Kokesh did not immediately return an email seeking an interview (a message on his website says he’s in Barcelona), but we will update if he does.

Meredith Graves Could Force Gun Law Change After 9/11 Memorial Arrest

Meredith Graves Could Force Gun Law Change After 9/11 Memorial Arrest
The Tennessee tourist accused of bringing a handgun to the 9/11 Memorial could force a change in New York's tough weapons possession law, according to the New York Post.
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-Manhattan), whose district includes Ground Zero, said he will have a "committee ... see how exactly the law is being enforced and to look at the possibility that there should be changes in the law," the newspaper reported.
The changes could include being more lenient on people who mistakenly bring guns from other states where they are legally licensed.
Meredith Graves, 39, was arrested Dec. 22 when she tried to check her loaded .32-caliber gun in with a cop at the memorial. She had a permit to carry the gun in Tennessee, but that did not apply in New York state.
She's facing a gun possession charge that carries a minimum of three-and-a-half years in prison.
She was also accused of having cocaine, but the Post reported tests showed the powder was found to be nothing illegal.
Silver told the Post, "Her actions show a clear indication that she didn't know she was breaking the law, and when she saw [a no guns] sign, she said, 'OK, I do have a gun. Take it from me.'
"There was no criminal intent." SOURCE:

MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A Tennessee woman is facing several years in prison under New York's tough gun laws after she brought a loaded handgun to the 9/11 Memorial last week.
Police arrested Meredith Graves, 39, for carrying a .32-caliber pistol to the entrance of the lower Manhattan memorial on Dec. 22, according to the criminal complaint and reports.
Graves, a fourth-year medical student visiting New York for a job interview, forgot she had the piece in her purse when she arrived at the memorial, the New York Post reported.
She then asked police stationed at the site where she could check the firearm, quickly landing her in handcuffs when cops realized she was not law enforcement, the Post reported.
Graves is charged with second-degree weapons possession, which carries a minimum of three-and-a-half years in prison. The Post reported she has a carry permit for Tennessee, but that does not apply to New York City.
A Legal Aid attorney who represented Graves at her arraignment is no longer on the case and did not know who she had retained as new counsel.
She is currently free on $2,000 bail and due back in court on March 19.
The head of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum said the ban on weapons at the sacred site should not come as a surprise to anyone.
"People should not bring guns to the site. It's so obvious — you shouldn't have to say it," president Joe Daniels told DNAinfo Thursday.
Not even retired police officers are allowed to have weapons at the site.
In late September, DNAinfo reported that retired police who arrived to pay respects at the Ground Zero site were angry at a city policy to include them in the ban on all registered weapons entering the property except for on-duty officers.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Thursday that this was not the first person to try to bring a weapon onto the 9/11 Memorial property, only to discover they couldn't bring it inside. A loaded .38 caliber handgun was found Tuesday under a table near metal detectors that screen visitors before they enter the Memorial, the Post reported.
