2012 Apocalypse Update: Global Warming May Cause Extreme Weather to be the 'New Normal'

"But the temperature doesn't seem to be reacting to all of the C02 in the atmosphere. Conclusion....there must be something else....yah think?"

While December 21st may not be the exact date of the 2012 apocalypse, some are predicting near-apocalypic conditions if the temperature continues to rise. That's right, naysayers, it's Global Warming. According to a report released by World Bank, all current nations will suffer if the temperature continues to rise, but especially the very poor countries, who will struggle even further with natural disasters, food shortages, a rising sea level, and drought.

While many have been saying that Global Warming is not actually happening, or that it is exactly what is supposed to happen, most experts disagree. The temperature has gone up about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit in the past century, and while that might not seem like a lot, seven out of the eight warmest years that have been recorded are all since 2001. That seems to indicate that it could be something that our advanced civilization is doing to cause or exacerbate Global Warming.

President Jim Yong Kim of World Bank told reporters Friday, "We will never end poverty if we don't tackle climate change. It is one of the single biggest challenges to social justice today." While that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense on the surface, it does stand to reason that if countries ability to grow crops is diminished, or if natural disasters become the norm, that it would certainly not help poverty in those nations. But that's not the worst part.

According to the report, which is called "Turn Down The Heat," the globe will increase by four degrees Celsius, which is more than 7 degrees Fahrenheit, and that will have a disastrous effect on the human race, causing widespread arctic sea ice melting, heat waves, and natural disasters. Extreme weather will become the "new normal" instead of something rarely experienced. While the 2012 apocalypse may only be a myth perpetuated by tinfoil-hat-wearing extremists, the reality of this climate change and the results comes from scientists, and while most people won't be alive at the end of the century, barring some major advances in medical research, what is being passed on to a new generation is very scary indeed.
