"Gender-free" Children: The Newest Fad in Pushing Radical Agendas on Children.

Raising children who don’t fit neatly into male or female boxes brings a wealth of questions and uncertainties.  Here you will find information and support to assist you in your search for answers. Also take a look at our Resources section and the Ways We Can Help.

"Gender-free" Children: The Newest Fad in Public Education

By Lee Duigon – bio

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he them; male and female created he them. ~ Genesis 1:27
Gender is a product of the mind ... Being transgender or gender non-conforming is normal and healthy. ~ British Columbia Teachers Federation, Handbook on "gender education," p. 5
Coming soon, to a public school near you: the teaching that "gender is a spectrum," and "gender identity" a state of mind, a social construct-and it's all part of a top-down campaign to convince your children that they can be "whoever they want to be." Boys can be girls and girls can be boys.
In March, 2010, the National Education Association, America's biggest and most powerful teachers' union, sent a delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women to testify to the need for all the world's national governments to embark on a program of radical sex education in their public schools. To quote from a contemporary news report:
Comprehensive sex education is "the only way to combat heterosexism and gender conformity," [NEA delegate Diane] Schneider proclaimed, "and we must make these issues a part of every middle and high-school student's agenda." "Gender identity expression and sexual orientation are a spectrum," she explained, and said that those opposed to homosexuality "are stuck in a binary box that religion and family create."[1]
In April the Council of Europe announced that it would soon "finalize a new convention that defines ‘gender' as a social construct rather than as a distinctive grounded in biology."[2]
Yes, it's coming right down from the top.

BC Teachers Set to Go

British Columbia teachers are already poised to go full-speed-ahead with this. The B.C. Teachers Federation has authorized a classroom teachers' handbook, "The Gender Spectrum: What Educators Need to Know."[3] Funding for the handbook was provided by the union and by the "Pride Education Network," a homosexual activist group. We will quote extensively from this handbook, to provide a fair and thorough representation of what public "educators" intend to "teach" the children entrusted to them.
"Psychologists believe," the text begins on Page 3, "that a person's core identity, or sense of self, is based on three major components: gender identity, style of behavior, and sexual orientation." We are not told which particular psychologists believe this, nor why we ought to make any psychologist's "belief" the basis of any child's education. The reader is warned that "outdated and oppressive views of gender continue to circulate in our everyday understanding of what it means to be human" (p. 5).
Insisting that there are no relevant differences between girls and boys (pp. 10-11), the handbook declares, "No less than seven gender categories existed among the Chukchi people of Siberia in the 1800s" (p. 12). So that makes gender chaos universal? We are not told why we should care about what the Chukchi people of Siberia in the 1800s thought about gender or any other topic.
Pages 12-13 offer a mass of gobbledygook about "two-spirit persons" (simultaneously male and female, supposedly) among the American Indians, written by Harlon Pruden, co-founder and council member for the North East Two-Spirit Society. There are no footnotes offered in support of any of this pour soul's ravings, such as this howler on page 13: "When a family was not properly raising their children, it has been documented"-but no such documentation is provided here-"that two-spirit people would intervene and assume responsibility as the primary caretaker." We cannot even speculate as to why anyone would expect us to believe this.

Boys and Girls Together, in the Shower

Schools are urged to establish a "dress code to enable a student's right to dress in accordance with their gender identity" and "the right to be addressed by one's preferred name and pronoun" (p. 16). On the same page, the handbook recommends "access to safe restroom and locker room facilities that correspond to one's gender identity"-in other words, teenage boys will be able to get into the girls' locker and shower room by claiming that they "feel like a girl" today.
Schools should hire "staff with diverse gender identities and expressions" (p. 17)-yes, that seems like a good idea, doesn't it? An even more amazing recommendation is that teachers should never address children as "boys and girls" anymore (p. 23).
"If students cling to traditional beliefs about gender," (translation: Christian beliefs) says the handbook (p. 29), teachers ought to "challenge" them with questions-thus pitting children against adults in a debate. How often do you suppose children will win such debates? How often do you suppose they will even dare to try?
The "gender is a spectrum" message is to be soaked into all lessons on all subjects, urges the handbook (p. 31). Special lessons shall be given. For example: "Ask students to imagine/pretend they had two moms or two dads. If that were so, what would they get double of?" (p. 33). Teachers are advised to stress the "positive/fun things" about the situation. Meanwhile, teachers of young children should "Use the book, King and King, to prompt student thinking about marriage equality" (p. 37). King and King is a fairy tale (pun intended) about a prince who "marries" another prince instead of a princess.
For older students there will be lessons on "Examining Novels for Gender Bias," featuring such thought-provoking questions as, "Are all the romantic relationships in the novel heterosexual?" (p. 45)-implying, of course, that that would be wrong. After all, the whole educational experience is all about "encouraging students to identify forms of sexism, heterosexism, homophobia, transphobia, privilege and oppression in their everyday lives" (p. 49). The add-on of "privilege and oppression" tips off the underlying Marxist mind-set of the whole enterprise.

It's Already Here

We have quoted the handbook at such length because it has been our experience that Christian parents who send their children to public schools do not want to believe our reports about what those schools teach. We recommend that readers use the link we have provided to the handbook and see for themselves whether our report is true.
Some will argue, "Oh, that's British Columbia! It's in another country-it has nothing to do with us."
But the campaign to create "gender-free" children has already begun in the United States. The Redwood Heights Elementary School in Oakland, California, has already installed a "gender coach" in the classroom to teach very young children that "you can be a boy or a girl, or both." Don't take our word for it: see it on video.[4] The "coach" was provided by an organization called Gender Spectrum (http://www.genderspectrum.org )-which presumably would not exist if it did not perceive a demand for its services.
Even in British Columbia, however, parents have not yet faced up to the teachers' unions plans for their children. Roadkill Radio host Kari Simpson attended a parents' rally recently and reported that the parents "had no idea that any of this was in the schools. Although not much news leaks out of the schools, I think it's safe to assume that at least the activist teachers are using that handbook."
The BCTF "has fought for and won a position in which teachers have virtual autonomy in the classroom," said Roy Grey, formerly the leader of the Christian Heritage Party and now a Roadkill Radio co-host. "We've been asking to hear from parents what they think of this-but the schools don't want the parents to know what's going on, and most of them don't know."
Sometimes we wonder if they would even want to know.
As always, we urge parents to remove their children from the public schools and provide them with a Christian education, either at home or in a Christian school. We cannot understand why any Christian parent would allow his child to receive "gender education" at the hands of teachers' unions and gay activists.
Decide: are the lessons suggested in "The Gender Spectrum" handbook the lessons that you want your child to be taught?

Radical "transgender" lessons now in CA elementary school
 -- starting in kindergarten!

Is this our future if transgender rights bill passes? VIDEOS below . . .

Is this YOUR future? It is unless you stop it. The "transgender rights" bills being pushed in Massachusetts and other states bring much more than just "bathroom" problems.
As two transgender bills (AB 433 and SB 48) are poised to be passed by the California Legislature, at least one elementary school in Oakland is already indoctrinating kids starting in kindergarten about "gender diversity."

WATCH this horrific Fox News report. This even shocked us. You will not believe what you are seeing:

VIDEO: This shows the "gender coach" indoctrinating fourth grade students on transgenderism.

Young children are being taught that they can choose to be a boy or a girl -- or both. Boys, for example, should be comfortable wearing girls' clothes and nail polish, etc. And there aren't just two genders, there can be a range. And, of course, the school does not allow parents to opt their kids out.
Redwood Heights Elementary School in Oakland, CA has hired a "gender coach" from "Gender Spectrum," a radical gender group, to go into the classrooms. As Fox News observed, Gender Spectrum's mission is to "create more gender-sensitive environments for kids."
On Monday morning, children in Cynthia Bagby's kindergarten class discussed whether there were, in fact, "girl colors" and "boy colors." Some giggled when Joel Baum, the trainer from Gender Spectrum, read "My Princess Boy," a nonfiction children's book by Cheryl Kilodavis about her son who liked to wear dresses and a tiara.
Not surprisingly, in these tough economic times the program is being paid for by the California Teachers Association (CTA).

Activists using disinformation, intimidation to demonize critics

As the Fox News report shows, the effort to intimidate any criticism of the program  is in full gear. The program is being sold as a "necessity" to help kids, and anyone against it is being labeled as someone who wants to allow kids to commit suicide.

This Fox report below features a man who is "the legal director for the Center for Lesbian Rights (at left below, and who we suspect is heavily hormone-induced "transgender" woman) defending this elementary school program. As it turns out, she/he(?) appears to be lying more than just a bit, about what it really is.

Nothing like this could stand on its own, even in California or Massachusetts. Thus, we see the same old lies, misrepresentations, skewed facts, and disinformation being used to silence critics -- which neither public authorities nor the mainstream press ever seriously question.

Phony reasons meant to intimidate. We're told that these "gender" programs must be implemented in elementary schools--without an opt-out ability--because:
  • Parents at home aren't doing their job, aren't supporting kids' choices, and are even throwing kids out of the house if they say they are "transgender".
  • This is absolutely necessary to stop bullying, which "transgender" kids suffer from more than others.
  • We must have respect for differences.
  • "Transgender" kids are committing suicide, and these programs must be done school-wide to stop that.
  • We need everyone to feel welcome and safe.
  • (And our favorite:) If you're against this, then you're in favor of teaching children to hate.
As the Mecrury News reported:
"Really, it's about reducing and dispelling stereotypes and prejudices so kids can show up to school and feel like they can learn and thrive without being stigmatized or teased," said Brett Bradshaw, a Redwood Heights parent who is also chairman of the school's LGBTQ Affinity group.
Who ever heard of an elementary school having an official "LGBTQ Affinity" group? Don't laugh. Yes, it's madness. But it's probably closer than you think. This kind of thing is common for activist parents to do to push agendas in their schools.

To honor LGBT Pride Month we asked Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) social workers to tell us why they chose social work as their profession and to describe the unique challenges facing their community.

Dr. Ryan
Q. Dr. Ryan, where did you earn your social work degree? What is your area of expertise and where are you currently employed?
I received my MSW from Smith College School for Social Work. My undergraduate work focused on human sexuality and my doctorate is in public policy with a focus on health policy.
I have worked on health and mental health issues for lesbians and gay men and LGBT adolescents for the past 35 years. My work started in the lesbian and gay health movement before AIDS where I worked to develop early networks of lesbian and gay health providers across the country.
I initiated the National Lesbian Care Survey to define lesbian health needs in the late 1970s, developed community-based AIDS services at the beginning of the epidemic, and have worked to implement quality care for LGBT adolescents since the early 1990s.
In 2002, I started the Family Acceptance Projectâ„¢ (FAP), a research, intervention, education and policy initiative that promotes family support and healthy futures for LGBT children and adolescents. I am based at the Marian Wright Edelman Institute and am affiliated with the César E. Chávez Institute at San Francisco State University.
Q. Why did you choose social work as your profession?
Social work chose me. I found a home in social work for my passion for social justice, interest in working with systems and on multiple levels and commitment to positive social change. I had been trying to find a profession that would enable me to make a difference and that's what social work gave me.
Q. What are the greatest challenges facing the LGBT community today and how can social workers help?
One of the greatest challenges facing LGBT youth and adults has been longstanding – lack of accurate information about sexual orientation and gender identity – among providers, families and policymakers.
Many providers and so many families wrongly believe that heterosexual identity is innate and that homosexuality is only acquired later in life. But research shows that children – gay and straight – become aware of sexual attraction, on average, at about age 10. Until accurate education on sexuality and human development is included in schools and professional training, basic misconceptions about human development will continue to restrict the humanity, life chances and civil rights of LGBT people.
Social workers need to self-educate and learn research literacy skills so they can:
  • accurately interpret and critique research and science;
  • help clients, families, communities and policymakers understand basic human development;
  • understand advances in our knowledge of sexuality and gender identity development and the connection between oppression, disease and well-being; and
  • continue to incorporate this information into practice, education, advocacy and policy work.

Dr. Ryan's Community Professional Acknowledgments include;
  • Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award, American Psychological Association, Division 44
  • Day Garrett Award, Smith College School for Social Work
  • Researcher of the Year, Lesbian Health & Research Center, University of California, San Francisco
  • NASW Social Worker of the Year
  • Jane Addams-Howard Brown Lifetime Achievement Award, National Lesbian and Gay Health Foundation

"For far too long parents, families, friends, teachers and helping professionals have lacked a unified resource to help them navigate a reality that can be perplexing and challenging. The needs of transgender and gender variant youngsters and their families are multiple, complex and varied. Providing up-to-date and balanced information about a field of knowledge that is underdeveloped is not an easy task. With a clear commitment to improving the lives of transgender children and their families, Stephanie Brill and Rachel Pepper have achieved an inclusive and concise reading that is a must-have for all those involved.”

Part of the "anti-bullying" agenda

Almost the first thing you see in the first Fox video report is a big sign in the classroom announcing that this is part of the "anti-bullying" effort.
In the Fox report, the "anti-bullying" agenda is used by homosexual activists as a vehicle to push their agendas to kids.
This also confirms (again) what we've been saying and observing all along about the anti-bullying bills being passed in haste across the country which force a range of draconian "fixes" on public schools.
It's no secret that the main force (and funding) behind this national push has been the homosexual and transgender movements. In Massachusetts, the overwhelming number of groups testifying at the public hearing on the anti-bullying bill were homosexual and transgender groups. In every situation we know about, these groups were even involved in the actual writing of the legislation. These laws rarely are crafted by actual behavioral scientists, always by activists.
These anti-bullying laws take advantage of the public's emotions, but are really used as another vehicle to coldly push radical agendas on children.
GET INVOLVED NOW:

In Massachusetts, the new "transgender rights and hate crimes" bill - even more radical than last time - is having its public hearing next week. It includes sections directly targeting schools, and will lead to lessons such as in the Fox News video.  (Watch for our complete analysis of Bill 502 in an upcoming email.)

If you have time to get involved, we can use your help over the next week. Please email us back with your contact info and mention in the memo field you want to get involved. We will get back to you.

(Even if you don't live here, it will be coming to your state soon. We can help you fight it in your state.)
